Frequently Asked Questions

Who can use mediation?

Separating couples, divorcing couples, grandparents, and parents & teenagers.

How long will mediation take?

We will try to offer you your first appointment within 10 days so you can take your first step towards a solution quickly.

You can come to your first appointment with or without your partner. At your first appointment we assess your eligibility for Public Funding and see if mediation is right for you. Your partner will also need to be assessed.

If you are both happy to go ahead and mediation is suitable, you can book your next appointment. You will need to be seen together during mediation. If you are concerned about your safety we will plan your sessions accordingly.

Mediation usually takes between 3 and 5 sessions. Each session lasts for one and a half hours. It is a swift and effective way to reach agreement and move on.

How about confidentiality?

Everything you say during mediation is confidential. The only exception would be if there are safety concerns for family members, in particular your children.

What if I have a complaint?

If you are not happy with the service or if you have any other concerns, please speak to your mediator.

We are also very happy to receive compliments for the things we do well so please let us know.
