Family Mediation

What is family mediation?

Our family mediation service is designed to help members of families resolve disagreements. We offer parent (step-parent/carer) and teenager mediation specifically to help resolve any areas of conflict that arise during adolescence or within new family groupings.

This service is jointly with Relate South Essex. In Southend we are funded by Connexions and this means that we can offer this service to family members free of charge.

Who we work with

We work with young people (up to age 25) and their parents or carers.

How we do it

We can meet with you and another member of your family once or up to four times in a private place. We will listen to both views, help you listen to each other and see what common ground can be found.

Together we can think of ideas to make things better and we can help you make them work. Talking about the situation with each other can often help. We can also suggest other services that could be useful to you.

What we won't do

• Tell you what you have to do
• Talk to others
